The Moto Guzzi Factory has been located in Mandello del Lario, ever since 1921. The manufacturing department and office headquarters were set here. Over many years of development, the factory grew from a small surface to a wider and wider one, as the Moto Guzzi name rose among motorcycle producers. During the period in which Aprilia had leadership over Moto Guzzi, they tried to move the factory and the headquarters to Monza, but were convinced not to do so through protests and demonstrations.
The location of the Moto Guzzi company has been kept ever since the first establishment, growing just as the numbers of orders they had for the popular motorcycles. The grounds now incorporate, in addition to the offices and the production departments, the wind tunnel they designed in order to test their motorcycles in the most accurate conditions. The historic wind tunnel was built in 1950, on the Moto Guzzi site, and has been used to place racers and their motorcycles in accurate weather conditions. In addition to this famous facility, the Moto Guzzi factory grounds also include a company library and a museum. For visitors and appreciators of the Moto Guzzi brand, the museum is the place where they can admire the evolution of the motorcycles and other related pieces. The most important artifact to be seen here is the first Guzzi motorcycle. This marks the beginning of a long evolution and of technique developments over the domain. In addition to this, you may also have the opportunity to see: other types of Guzzi motorcycles (such as the classic Guzzi, 500cc, the Normale 500 and so on), improvements added to the motorcycles for aerodynamic reasons, engines, three wheelers, the gallettos and so on.
The Moto Guzzi Museum and factory is a place that you can visit throughout the year, except for the month of August. You will definitely enjoy being in such a history filled place and you will appreciate learning more about motorcycles from the past. For any motorcycle passionate this place is a must see and admire location.
