Moto Guzzi is one of the most famous Italian motorcycle manufacturers in the world. The company has managed to become a trustworthy one due to the great and amazingly high quality products offered. The motorcycle manufacturer was first established in 1921, in Mandello del Lario, Italy. One of the first motorcycle builders in the world, this brand has actually had an important part when it comes to the manufacturing of these vehicles and their evolution, to motorcycle racing, but also to a series of other innovations that should not be ignored and which represented important factors of development in this industry. This is the first company in the world to introduce innovations such as motorcycle center stand, wind tunnel and the eight cylinder engine.

One of the most interesting facts about the brand is that it has not only been able to survive for decades, but it actually has managed to increase its fame and success with every year. The origins of this company date back to the 1920s, when the concept was first created by two aircraft pilots and their mechanic. Its founders are Carli Guzzi, Giovanni Ravelli and Giorgion Parodi. The eagle wings that can be seen nowadays on the logo of the brand is actually inspired by the careers of the three founders. The fact that they made the decision to create a motorcycle company right after the end of World War I was considered to be quite a shocking one, as the whole world was still suffering from the effects of the economical struggle.

Since its forming for about 45 years, the history of Moto Guzzi has been dominated by Carlo Guzzi’s first engine design. Still, with every new model released, various improvements have been added to these amazing vehicles. The motorcycles this company produced were made for middleweight classes and this is the exact public they managed to win. One of the most difficult periods in the history of this company has been linked to World War II and its disastrous effects. For the company to be able to survive, manufacturers found a solution in the production of inexpensive, lighter cycles. A Moto Guzzi motorcycle model became really popular in Italy after the war, actually being the most used vehicle of this kind in the era. Starting with the year 1964 the company has been under a harsh financial crisis. Many managerial decisions had to be made to save the brand.

The Moto Guzzi Factory has been located in Mandello del Lario, ever since 1921. The manufacturing department and office headquarters were set here. Over many years of development, the factory grew from a small surface to a wider and wider one, as the Moto Guzzi name rose among motorcycle producers. During the period in which Aprilia had leadership over Moto Guzzi, they tried to move the factory and the headquarters to Monza, but were convinced not to do so through protests and demonstrations.

The location of the Moto Guzzi company has been kept ever since the first establishment, growing just as the numbers of orders they had for the popular motorcycles. The grounds now incorporate, in addition to the offices and the production departments, the wind tunnel they designed in order to test their motorcycles in the most accurate conditions. The historic wind tunnel was built in 1950, on the Moto Guzzi site, and has been used to place racers and their motorcycles in accurate weather conditions. In addition to this famous facility, the Moto Guzzi factory grounds also include a company library and a museum. For visitors and appreciators of the Moto Guzzi brand, the museum is the place where they can admire the evolution of the motorcycles and other related pieces. The most important artifact to be seen here is the first Guzzi motorcycle. This marks the beginning of a long evolution and of technique developments over the domain. In addition to this, you may also have the opportunity to see: other types of Guzzi motorcycles (such as the classic Guzzi, 500cc, the Normale 500 and so on), improvements added to the motorcycles for aerodynamic reasons, engines, three wheelers, the gallettos and so on.

The Moto Guzzi Museum and factory is a place that you can visit throughout the year, except for the month of August. You will definitely enjoy being in such a history filled place and you will appreciate learning more about motorcycles from the past. For any motorcycle passionate this place is a must see and admire location.

The famous Moto Guzzi brand of Italian motorcycles emerged on the market in 1921. With its historical background and innovations, Moto Guzzi is now one of the most famous motorcycles companies in the world. The logo consist of a red background, the text “Moto Guzzi” and an eagle with spread wings above it. It is an easily recognizable symbol of the motorcycle brand and it is famous between motorcycle users everywhere.

The Moto Guzzi logo originated as a symbol of commemoration, as Giorgio Parodi and Carlo Guzzi, the founders, decided to honor the memory of their friend, Giovanni Ravelli. Ravelli died in a plane crash and thus, the logo was taken as symbol of flight, being the emblem of the Italian Air Corp, the winged eagle. The three friends all had a passion for flying and it only seemed natural to keep the memory of a friend and such a beloved activity in the logo of Moto Guzzi. From its original design and throughout the 1970s and the 1980s, the logo has become more stylized. Moto Guzzi operated changes such as finishing touches on the eagle, that made it look more natural, for example. The Moto Guzzi logo also had a sketch variant for a couple of years. The logo has been renewed and returned to its original form for many years, but it always maintained its symbolical characteristics. Moto Guzzi made the winged eagle a common feature for motorcycle lovers and a great part of the culture of bikers. The logo has been featured, since its development, not only on the Moto Guzzi motorcycles, but also on various personalized items and collectibles, as well as on tattoos and other symbolical appearances.

The logo created for Moto Guzzi is a symbol of great Italian spirit, a tribute to flying and in consequences, to freedom. The winged eagle on the red background, above the written words “Moto Guzzi” is memorable and dear to all motorcycle users, as a part of the history and the heritage of bikers, that started after the Second World War.

Italian Moto Guzzi motorcycles come from the world’s oldest European manufacturer. In fact, Moto Guzzi is just one of the seven brands that is owned by Piaggio. Piaggio is the biggest manufacturer of motorcycles as well as the fourth largest motorcycle manufacturer on the planet according to unit sales. The company was first established in 1921 in Mandello del Lario, Italy. Today it’s one of the most prominent and innovative motorcycle makers in the world.

Moto Guzzi motorcycles include the very first motorcycle wind tunnel and the first motorcycle eight cylinder engines. In fact the Moto Guzzi Grand Prix V8 was first introduced in 1995. In essence it was a 500 cc racing motorcycle that was fitted with a V8 engine with the ability to achieve speeds of up to 172 miles per hour. Moto Guzzi is also credited with the first production automatic motorcycle that was able to reach top speeds of up to 110 miles per hour and hit the scene before Honda’s 750 and Suzuki’s 450 automatic.

Current Moto Guzzi models include a great number of historic racing and military motorcycles. They have produced models especially for the Italian police forces, the Italian military, as well as various United States police departments like the Los Angeles Police Department. Moto Guzzi motorcycles include Bellagio standards, Nevada Classic, and the ever popular Breva. There’s also the Norge 1200 Sport Tourer, the California Cruiser, and the Stelvio Dualsport. The classic style of Moto Guzzi motorcycles makes this European manufacturer a force to be reckoned with.

With Moto Guzzi’s retro-styling, it’s easy to understand why there has been a huge surge in the popularity of these motorcycles in the last few years with more and more people wanting to own vintage or faux-vintage items. However, with their resurgence, there has also been a large aftermarket created for them and more and more people are deciding that a stock, basic, Moto Guzzi, just isn’t what they want to have. Thankfully, there are many companies that have seen this as an opportunity to take motorcycling back to its roots and offer parts for the bikes that were popular amongst racers in decades past.

Some of the most popular parts are mainly for aesthetics, but they do, generally, add a bit of protection for the bike when it is traveling at high speeds. Many people switch parts out, like oil pans and pumps, to help increase the life and ease of maintenance on their machines by using external oil filters instead of the stock internal filters. When they do this, many people will also opt for installing a skid plate over their oil pan to protect it from debris and damage if the bike is laid over.

To find the parts that you need for your Moto Guzzi, you can either choose to go with factory replacement parts of aftermarket replacement/upgrade parts. Purchasing factory parts means you simply need to contact your dealer. Some of the best no-nonsense aftermarket parts are from companies like MGCycle.com, cyclegarden.com and hapermotoguzzi.com where they specialize in Moto Guzzi parts.

In 1973, DTI (De Tomaso Industries Inc.) purchased SEIMM. Because SEIMM owned Moto Guzzi, DTI took over this company as well. Thanks to the change in control, Moto Guzzi worked its way back to being a profitable company.

In 2000, Moto Guzzi was acquired from DTI by Aprilia S.p.A for sixty-five million dollars. Four years later, Piaggio & Co. S.p.A acquired Aprilia S.p.A. As part of this acquisition, Piaggio & Co. S.p.A assumed ownership of Moto Guzzi.

Since its creation, Moto Guzzi has been a very innovative company. Some of the firsts that can be accredited to the company are its large wheel scooter, truck-motorcycle hybrid, production automatic motorcycle, motorcycle wind tunnel, DOHC V8 motorcycle engine and rear swingarm suspension. They are also responsible for the first motorcycle center stand, motorcycle manufacturer to use AGM batteries, cartridge forks, linked brakes on a motorcycle and prototype motorcycle shaft drive.

Because of their popularity, Moto Guzzi motorcycles are by no means cheap. However, this doesn’t mean that they are unreasonably priced. For example, you can purchase a Moto Guzzi California Vintage in the range of $15,000. When you take into account the quality that is put into Moto Guzzi’s motorcycles, you can easily see why this is a reasonable price.
